When equipment is going back into service, you need to know it’s ready for the pressure it’s going to see in the field.
That’s a big part of the work we do at Wagner Energy Services.
We provide oilfield testing and inspection services throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. From hydrostatic pressure testing and valve testing to torque work and flange management, our crews help operators check equipment, document results and catch problems before that equipment goes back to work.
Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
A leak or pressure drop isn’t something you want to discover once an operation is already underway.
Hydrostatic testing allows us to put equipment under controlled pressure and see how it performs. If something isn’t holding the way it should, we can find it during the test.
Wagner can perform pressure testing on a range of oilfield equipment, including:
- Drilling rig BOPs and related valves
- Casing
- Choke manifolds
- Choke lines
- Kill and mud lines
- Iron
- Top drive and Kelly valves
- Piping, valves and other pressure-containing equipment
We use digital equipment capable of recording pressure, flow and temperature during testing. That gives our customers actual test information they can keep on file and go back to when needed.
Production and Completion Testing
We also provide testing and analysis during production and completion operations.
Depending on the job, that can include measuring flow rates, pressure, temperature, fluid properties and composition.
Those readings give operators a better idea of what’s happening with a well or piece of equipment while the work is taking place. If something changes or doesn’t look right, there’s actual field data available to help figure out what’s going on.
Sometimes the numbers show you something you wouldn’t catch from a visual inspection.
Torque and Test Services
Pressure testing is only part of the job. The connections need to be right too.
Wagner provides hydraulic bolt torquing and flange management services for oilfield equipment and piping systems.
Connections need to be properly assembled and tightened before they’re expected to hold pressure. If something doesn’t hold during testing, our crews can help locate the problem so it can be addressed before the equipment goes into service.
Oilfield Valve Testing
Valves take a lot of abuse in the field, and a problem isn’t always obvious just by looking at them.
Wagner provides preventive valve services along with testing and certification for wellhead valves and spools.
Testing gives operators a chance to check pressure integrity and valve performance before that equipment is needed on location.
If a valve isn’t holding pressure the way it should, we’d rather find that during a controlled test than when the equipment is needed during an operation.
We Document the Work
We take documentation seriously at Wagner.
Our hydrostatic testing equipment can record information from the test so customers have more than somebody saying, “It passed.”
That information can be useful when looking back at equipment history, comparing previous tests or trying to determine where a pressure issue started.
It also gives the operator a record of what was actually done on location.
Experience Behind the Testing
There’s a difference between having the equipment to perform a test and knowing what the results are telling you.
Wagner Energy Services is fully licensed and insured and maintains ISN and PEC Safety credentials. Our owner also has a petroleum engineering background, bringing additional technical knowledge to the testing and field work we perform.
Our pressure-testing experience has taken us outside of the oilfield as well. Wagner Energy Services has performed pipe pressure test analysis for NASA.
We’re proud of that work, but whether we’re working on a specialized testing project or an oil and gas location, we approach the job the same way.
